Joint restriction, movement quality and getting back to your sport — Sports Chiropractic in Camrose
assessed against what your sport actually demands.
Sports Chiropractic in a Sporting Context
Sports chiropractic is ordinary chiropractic assessment and treatment applied with a specific question in mind: what does this person need to be able to do, and what is stopping them?
That changes the emphasis. A restricted thoracic spine matters more to a golfer or a thrower than it does to most people. Limited hip rotation matters to a hockey player. Ankle stiffness after an old sprain shows up years later as a knee or hip problem in a runner. The joint restriction is the same finding either way; the significance depends on the sport.
Dr. Robert Weeks works with athletes alongside our physiotherapy, massage and kinesiology team, which matters because sporting problems rarely sit neatly inside one discipline.
Where It Fits
In-season maintenance
Keeping restrictions from accumulating through a season of repeated one-sided loading.
Return from injury
Restoring joint movement alongside the strength and control work that rehabilitation provides.
Movement screening
Identifying the restriction that is making a compensation necessary, before it becomes the injury.
Hockey
Hip rotation, adductors and the low back — the skating stride loads all three predictably.

Golf and throwing sports
Thoracic rotation and lead-side hip, where losing range shows up immediately in the swing.
Running
Ankle, hip and pelvis, where a restriction at one end shows up as pain at the other.
Sports Chiropractic in Camrose Alone Is Not a Programme
An adjustment can restore movement to a joint. It cannot build the strength that holds that movement, and it cannot change the loading pattern that caused the restriction. For an athlete those are the parts that determine whether the problem stays away.
So sports chiropractic here is deliberately combined with the things that do that work: therapeutic exercise, kinesiology and strength work, sports massage, and sports injury physiotherapy where there is an actual injury to rehabilitate.
If what you have is a diagnosed injury rather than a movement restriction, physiotherapy is the right starting point and we will tell you so.
