Your First Chiropractic Visit in Camrose

First Chiropractic Visit – What happens, how long it takes, what to wear, and what you will leave with.

Nothing Happens Before You Are Assessed

The most common worry about a First Chiropractic Visit in Camrose is being adjusted before anyone has worked out what is wrong. That is not how it goes here. Your first Chiropractic  visit is mostly assessment and conversation, and treatment only happens once there is a reason for it and you have agreed to it.

Chiropractic care at our Camrose clinic is provided by Dr. Robert Weeks, working alongside our physiotherapy, massage and rehabilitation team.

What the Appointment Involves

1. History

What brought you in, how long it has been going on, what makes it better and worse, your general health, medications, and anything relevant in your past medical history.

2. Physical examination

Movement testing, palpation, and orthopaedic or neurological tests where indicated. This is where the working diagnosis comes from.

3. Explanation

What we think is going on, in plain language, and what the options are — including doing nothing, and including options that are not chiropractic.

4. Treatment, if appropriate

Adjustment, mobilisation or soft tissue work as indicated. You will be told what is planned before it happens and you can decline any part of it.

5. What you do next

Usually a small number of exercises or a change to something you are doing daily. This is the part that determines whether it stays away.

6. The plan

Roughly how many visits, what we expect to change and by when, and what happens if it does not.

Practical Details

Longer than a follow-up, because most of it is assessment. Follow-ups are shorter and more focused.
Comfortable clothing you can move in. Nothing restrictive. You will not be asked to change into a gown.
No. Chiropractic is direct-access in Alberta. Some insurance plans require a referral for reimbursement — that is a plan rule, worth checking with your insurer.
Your insurance details (policy and group number), a list of any medications, and any relevant imaging or reports you already have. If it is a WCB claim or motor vehicle claim, bring the claim number.
Often, if the assessment supports it and you are comfortable with it. Not always — sometimes the right first step is something else, or a referral.
Some tenderness for a day is common after a first treatment. It settles. Tell us if it does not.
Not routinely. Imaging is requested when the history or examination indicates it, not as standard practice.

Coverage & Direct Billing

We direct bill Alberta Blue Cross, Great-West Life, Sun Life Financial, Cowan Insurance Group, Manulife Financial, Maximum Benefit, Desjardins, Johnson Insurance and Green Shield Canada. We also handle WCB claims and motor vehicle accident claims directly.

I have been seeing Hiya for my physio since a fall and a car accident. She is lovely and goes above and beyond for her clients, you can truly see she is passionate about her work. The front desk girls are all wonderful too! Always so nice, and remember you by name, greetings everyone as they come in the door. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience.

Zoey was incredibly thorough—she listened carefully, explained the underlying causes of my persistent neck and shoulder problem, and provided treatment that delivered fast, noticeable results. The front office staff are exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. It’s genuinely a pleasure to visit this clinic.
