Pain, stress, headaches, digestive discomfort, poor sleep, and muscle tension can all affect how you feel and function each day. At Central Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic, Acupuncture Camrose is offered as a gentle, natural healing option. Using fine sterile needles, acupuncture therapy works with the body’s natural response systems to help reduce discomfort, improve balance, and support recovery.
Acupuncture is a hands-on therapeutic approach that uses very fine acupuncture needles placed at specific points on the body. These points are selected depending on your symptoms, health goals, and overall presentation.
Acupuncture treatment supports the body’s natural healing processes by encouraging circulation, relaxation, and nervous system balance.
Treatment may help calm irritated tissues, reduce muscle tension, and support pain relief.
Acupuncture therapy can help the body shift from stress mode into a calmer recovery state.
Rather than focusing only on one painful area, acupuncture considers how pain, sleep, stress, digestion, and energy levels may be connected.
A common question is: Is acupuncture safe? At Central Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic, acupuncture treatment is provided with careful attention to comfort, cleanliness, and patient communication. Fine sterile needles are used, and every session is planned around your symptoms, goals, and comfort level.
Single-use sterile needles are used during treatment. This helps maintain a clean and safe treatment process from start to finish.
Needle placement is selected based on your pain areas, stress levels, muscle tension, digestion concerns, sleep patterns, or wellness goals. Your provider chooses points that match your treatment plan rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Before treatment begins, your provider explains what to expect and checks in with you throughout the session. If you feel sensitive, nervous, or unsure, the session can be adjusted to help you feel more at ease.
Acupuncture is performed in a professional clinic setting where hygiene, patient privacy, and comfort are prioritized.
Your provider reviews relevant health details, medications, sensitivities, and current concerns before treatment so care can be delivered appropriately.

Acupuncture therapy at Central Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic is designed to support natural healing, relaxation, pain relief, and whole-body balance. Treatment may vary depending on whether you are seeking acupuncture for back pain, acupuncture for anxiety, indigestion relief, tension-type headaches, or general wellness support.
Fine sterile needles are placed at the selected points to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. These points are chosen depending on your symptoms, comfort level, and treatment goals.
For concerns such as back pain, neck tension, shoulder tightness, or joint discomfort, acupuncture needles may be placed near affected areas to support circulation, reduce muscle tension, and calm sensitivity.
Some points may be selected away from the painful area, such as on the hands, feet, arms, or legs. This approach supports whole-body regulation and may be used for headaches, anxiety, digestion, or widespread discomfort.
When tight muscle bands contribute to pain or stiffness, targeted needling may help reduce muscle guarding and improve movement comfort.
For stress, sleep concerns, or acupuncture for relaxation, treatment may focus on calming the nervous system and helping the body shift into a more settled recovery state.
For indigestion relief, bloating, reflux patterns, or stress-related digestive discomfort, point selection may focus on supporting digestive balance and abdominal comfort.
For tension-type headaches, acupuncture treatment may focus on points related to neck tension, jaw tightness, stress response, and head pressure.
Your provider checks how you feel during and after sessions, then adjusts point selection, session frequency, and treatment focus as your body responds.
Another common question is: Does acupuncture hurt? Most people feel little to no discomfort because acupuncture needles are very thin. Sensations are usually mild and temporary.
Some points may create a brief pinch, pressure, warmth, heaviness, or tingling. These sensations often settle quickly once the needle is placed.
Many patients feel calm during acupuncture therapy. Some feel deeply relaxed, lighter, or more settled after the session.
If any point feels uncomfortable, your provider can adjust needle placement, depth, or treatment intensity. Your comfort guides the session.
Acupuncture needles are much thinner compared to injection needles, so the experience is usually gentler than many people expect.
For first-time patients, the process is explained step by step so there are no surprises during the appointment.
Your visit begins with a conversation about your symptoms, health goals, lifestyle, and comfort level. From there, your acupuncture treatment is planned around what you want to improve, whether that is pain relief, relaxation, indigestion relief, stress support, or long-term wellness.
We discuss pain areas, stress levels, sleep quality, digestion, energy, headaches, muscle tension, and any ongoing concerns that may influence treatment.
A personalized point selection plan is created based on your needs. This may include acupuncture for back pain, acupuncture for anxiety, tension-type headaches, relaxation, or general wellness support.
Fine acupuncture needles are placed carefully while you remain comfortably positioned. Your provider checks in to make sure you feel relaxed and supported.
Once the needles are placed, you rest quietly for a period of time. This part of the session often feels calming and restorative.
After the treatment time is complete, the needles are gently removed, and your provider checks how you feel before you leave.
You may receive recommendations for hydration, rest, movement, stretching, activity pacing, or follow-up care based on your response to treatment.
Your provider reviews changes in pain, sleep, digestion, energy, mood, mobility, and overall comfort. Your treatment frequency is adjusted depending on how your body responds.

Dr. Marie-Michèle Benoit provides Acupuncture in Camrose at Central Physiotherapy & Massage Clinic with a compassionate, patient-centred approach. Her connection to acupuncture began through her own health journey, after acupuncture helped her regain breathing comfort and return to the activities she loved.
She earned her Acupuncture Camrose diploma from Collège de Rosemont in Montreal in 1991 and later completed the board requirements to practise in Alberta in 2020. Dr. Benoit focuses on acupuncture therapy that supports the body’s natural healing capacity, while helping patients better understand their symptoms, stress patterns, and wellness goals.
I found Dr.Marie Michelle Benoit to be very easy to talk with as she assessed my trouble spots and then she explained how acupuncture works to reset, unblock and repair damaged pathways within the body. After that she applied needles and made sure none were causing pain, burning or extreme discomfort. I must admit I barely felt almost all of them, only a very few got noticed and none were painful. Some tingled like a current flowing. After relaxing and allowing them to work, she removed them and I arose feeling refreshed in a strange way. The discomfort and tension I had previously been feeling seemed a distant memory and I was much more comfortable. Looking forward to another session next week and perhaps putting this sciatica to bed. Thank you very much for your work and it's apparent result.
